Recollections

Monotypes on paper, Sultan Gallery (2023)

I don’t believe what we remember is inevitably meaningful, or what we end up forgetting isn't of any significance. However, I do believe in the spatial capacity of our memories. While certain beings always occupy dreams, others dwell in songs, or erode in places I had visited. Sometimes, the past seeps into my conscious mind leaving a bitter taste of resentment.

This exhibition is an attempt to rewrite or recompose my memories in a more bearable form. The work on display is a result of personal interactions with several material objects, some collected, and some I made myself. The process made me reflect on the idea of leaving a moment in time for another, and how within a particular moment, I can hear rhythmic cords to which an image flutters in response.
