Sensations of A Moving Machine
Kinetic film projection, MFA Degree Show (2024)
Connecting back to a film footage I shot in 2014, I decided to conduct a dialectic exercise while watching it with family members, college friends and colleagues from various disciplines. The film is taken during a family trip to several cities in the Arabian Peninsula. It is the second road trip I had with my father; a specialist in the geomorphology of this region. Questions of language, perception and visibility started surfacing while watching the continuous panning image of the landscape. I describe the work as both an external montage and an automated ritual as it moves across the cinematic, spatial and psychological ideas of projecting.
